Alright, so here we are. At week 2 in the series of posts for this new adventure of starting a blog and sharing my thoughts and processes with you. Don’t worry if you haven’t read the first one, Click Here to read that one as well.
I had originally committed to publishing one new blog post each Saturday in the evening at 5PM. Funny how I failed to keep up with that in my first attempt this week 😅
I was in Lahore for the whole week and I hadn’t pre-written my post for one BIG reason. I wanted these initial posts to be about my Journey of starting a blog, being consistent and the challenges I face along the way. To keep things real.
How to Come Up With Better Ideas
Now, even though I never got the time to sit down to write a blog post. I kept taking note of all the possible ideas that came to me. Whether I was shopping in a mall, having dinner or just talking to my wife. Whenever the inspiration would strike me, I’d make sure to note it down. That’s really half the battle! The more ideas you have in your notes app, the more content you can generate based on those ideas. Now, this blog post is not based on any of those ideas but just by focusing my mind on coming up with ideas, to focus on what’s happening around me, I believe I’ve been able to make better connections and generate better ideas. Just by repeating this exercise of taking notes of my ideas over and over again.
How the Energy in Your Surroundings Shapes You
Now back to the actual topic. Ever felt like being in a state of Super Motivation & Inspiration whenever you’re around interesting people who inspire you? Like when you are at a conference with great speakers or when you’re simply at a beautiful place that inspires you to do something?
Back in February 2017, I made a crazy move (literally!). I moved from my home in Faisalabad to a one bed apartment in Lahore. The whole reason was to get our of my comfort zone and to be at a place where the Energy Level is High! And it Worked! Just by moving away from my comfort zone, into a new place where everyone is hustling, I was able to get a car that I thought was way out of my league at the time. Not only that, I even moved to the most expensive areas in Lahore and stayed there for a while.
Then I came back to be with my family. And the next year I moved back to Lahore for 6 months again and this time I was able to make enough money to BUILD MYSELF A HOUSE. Yes! Let that sink in.
The difference was that I’ve observed that there isn’t a lot of energy in Faisalabad. You don’t get to see the young people working hard at their jobs. Everyone in Lahore seems to be super excited about their work. They welcome you in such a friendly manner that you just feel great and at the top of the world. These are the little things that help you feel more confident, more energetic and raise your motivation levels seeing all the great stuff everyone else is doing around you.
Not only that, when people in Lahore work, they work hard. But when they party, they party even harder! Such a lifestyle doesn’t attract everyone though. But for someone looking for any reason to feel charged, energetic and wants to do it big, such a fast-paced city really helps you shift your gears.
Is it Luck or Is it Opportunity
A quick note here on a mystery that has eluded me for the longest while. When I made the connection between my success and moving to Lahore and saw how these two things aligned. You may call that luck but I like to break things down into possible scenarios that can be learned & repeated. Yes, luck is definitely a factor but when is it not? Instead why not focus on what else did I have to do to actually be able to take advantage of the Opportunity that luck provided me.
What I Learned from this Quick Visit to Lahore
This time I didn’t get back with a new car or a ton of money to build a new house (it was just a 6 day trip, what do you expect 😄). But what I was able to bring back with me were high spirits and a recharged sense of direction for this blog. Just by being around people who don’t say NO much often and are willing to work hard to make anything possible. Just by looking at others driving an Audi or a Porsche, you can’t help but just feel energized from within and ask yourself the question: Why can’t that be me?
And just like that, with such a small shift in the way you think, it clicks something inside of you and puts you back on the fast-track to success! I really didn’t have the time or energy to write this one today but I guess that’s the energy that I brought back home that made me choose this topic to talk about and to be able to write this post when I’m Pretty Sleep! 💤
This is all for now, see you guys in the next one soon! This time on Saturday at 5PM for sure!
P.S. It feels like it’ll become a pattern for these posts to have some extra thoughts on the footnote but why not! I wrote this post in quite a hurry for now when I’m sleepy. I’m not sure if this is good or not of even if it has a lot of errors and typos. Let me know if you see any and I’ll fix it. Or if something doesn’t make any sense at all (again I’m too sleepy for this right now), let me know and I’ll rephrase it in a better way ☺️
